Modern and future-ready ERP system for badenova

For the past 20 years, badenova was using the same ERP system successfully. However, badenova realized that switching to a new platform served the best interests of the business. The organization also wanted to separate the energy-related processes of the SAP Industry Solutions for Utilities (SAP IS-U) from the logistical and commercial processes. Plus, they needed some adjustments to the SAP organizational structure. Due to all of these requirements and a large volume of data already existing in the old system, badenova was looking out for experienced teams for the migration.

Fiesttech Consulting and Natuvion formed a joint team to tackle all of these challenges together. In order to manage a large amount of data more efficiently, the project team opted for selective data transition and separated the processes, functions, and data of the IS-U system from those of the ERP core. The data required for SAP S/4HANA from the previous SAP ECC solution was transferred – both for the current and previous fiscal year as well as for all pending orders and processes. This data transfer was done through the Natuvion Data Conversion Server (DCS) – an intelligent transformation software specifically designed for automated migration of large stocks of data. During the migration, the team was also able to clear inconsistencies and redundancies in the existing master data.

The solution paved the way for optimized profit center structures and thus created the basis for document splits and the creation of a profit center and segment balance sheet. badenova now has a modern ERP system with SAP S/4HANA, which is connectible to other IT solutions such as the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). It offers the in-house IT landscape a lot of scope in the future.
